I run gpokr on a mac with Firefox, Camino, and Safari.
On my intel mac, all three browsers crash. Usually I use Firefox. Typically, I first notice the images for cards or av's not loading. Then after a minute the chat box slows, then everything locks up. In Firefox, I can still browse the menu bar (usually) but if I try to quit the browser or close the window, nothing happens. Just get the beach ball. I have to force quit the browser from the system Force Quit... Safari is a little more stable, but I don't like it because the check boxes for fold etc don't appear until my turn comes. I can't pre-select to check or fold and it takes too much of my attention. My powerPC has none of these problems. Both run the most current OS and browser. This has been going on for 2 months now. Is there a fix in the works? |

I'm on a 2Ghz Intel Core Duo iMac runnin' Firefox, Camino and Safari; I run Camino 80% of the time. I've been having the same problem, too, Nod. It usually only happens when I've got a great hand with a ton of money on the table. :-) My fix has been to uncheck the "Sound" box under Options. I've been doing that for several months now, and gpokr hasn't crashed any of my browsers since then. Sure, I've had issues with timing out, but usually when everyone else at the table has them too. I know. It's weird. GWT hates OSX. |

at 12:37 PM, Thursday August 2, 2007 EDT Ah, but then everything else I do on the computer would suck. I'd have an ugly, virus ridden, spyware laden box lacking style and grace.
Of course, in reality, I wouldn't have to buy a wintel machine since the intel macs run windows natively and in parallel to the Mac OS. However, I'd rather have FF crash than face the horror that is windoz. ;-) |
